These stories are about how it is remembered, not how it was; "The translucent alabaster of our memories." - Proust. Memory becomes sense of place. And Life is intersected with those memories, the Zeitgeists. Writers are the keepers of our memories. This collection is about a cast of characters lost in memory in search for a permanent place they can inhabit, a place where they can exist. They are brought to life over distance of time and place, and the fog of memory. They are characters searching for relevance and validation. Their voices searching for life. Mixing memory, fact, sense-of-place, imagination, truth, and then embellishing it, gives them their voice. They find their place in these fragments and remembrances, in these excursions.
